Air is around 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen with a remaining mixture of argon, carbon dioxide, and other trace gases. Tires filled with nitrogen have around a 95% or higher nitrogen purity level. Increasing the level of nitrogen in tires helps maintain tire pressure levels longer than air filled tires that aren't checked.
Ideally, you should check your tire pressure at least once a month. In reality, many motorists neglect this aspect of tire maintenance as it's easy to forget about or tempting to ignore in frigid or hot conditions.
